Big crowd has formed in Jackson for Obama

There’s a giant line in Jackson to hear Sen. Barack Obama speak tonight. The doors opened not long before 5 p.m. and crowds started to pack the arena at Jackson State University, where the candidate is set to address a crowd in anticipation of tomorrow’s primary.

Word is the arena holds about 8,000 folks, but from the looks of the line outside, which snakes up the street and around the corner, there are about 20,000 or so who want to get in, according to a very rough estimate I came up with as I looked for parking.

Earlier in the day, Obama addressed a crowd in Columbus, and told them he wasn’t interested in a job as opponent Sen. Hillary Clinton’s vice president, according to an Associated Press account of the rally.

Tonight’s Obama speech is the last for me before the primary, having seen Hillary Clinton and her husband the former President Clinton speak in the last few days.

I will have an account of the Obama rally in tomorrow’s paper and the Sun Herald will keep you informed as Mississippi’s primary action unfolds in both print and online editions.

The rallies and hype associated with Obama do nothing to tell us as voters what the real soultions are for what is plaguing us.

Obama's rhetoric leaves us with one message of unity while his allegiance to his spiritual advisor, Pastor Wright, leaves us with the message of racism and devisiveness.

Obama's inability to denounce this man either means he lacks the strength to disassociate himself from this man and his ethnic-centric message and support of Farrakhan or that he is a disciple of such tenets.

How can one listen to his so-called message of hope and unity when he and his family pray before the pulpit of such ideology.

Let's remember that infamous world leaders in our history books also filled stadiums with thousands of people only to lead them to disastrous outcomes...

Sadly, the Clinton campaign continue to spread lies and try to divide us. Hillary is simply more Bush/Clinton politics with the usual corruption and scandal. It's ironic that Hillary claims she will "fight" special interests when she took more money from them than any other candidate!

Like Bush, she hides her records, hired cronies to run a chaotic campaign, blows other people's money and voted for the war.

Like Bush, I hope she won't try to steal the election.

JFK lost the 1960 Ohio election to go on to win the Presidency. So many patriotic American people and politicians who support Obama know him well.
The truth is, Obama will make us proud.

Obama got healthcare policy right. While Hillary is arguing for individual mandates on Health Insurance and if one doesnt get insurance from private insurance companies one will be fined or see their wages garnished (see the Los Angeles debate in January she said it). Why should we trust someone that is the largest recipient in drug company contributions in Washington to bring us affordable healthcare? In 2005-2006 she received $854,000 in contributions from the Health Care industry which represented the 2nd highest in congress and a 1st for a Democrat) Who does she speak for?

The next president of America ought to be Barack Obama. I trust him to reform the Health Care Industry to ensure that all who need it can afford because he has not been bought by special interest groups. His approach is so refreshing.

Has anyone seen Andrew Sullivan's article on Obama? It's a balanced perspective on Washington politics or the New York times front page article on Sunday. Here's Sullivan's piece http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/andrew_sullivan/article3510778.ece

It is becoming clear that the biggest difference between Obama and Hillary or McCain is that Obama is less experienced. He is neither morally superior (lies about Rezko, Iraq and NAFTA) nor does he represent "change". In which case Hillary is the more experienced of the democratic candidates and she's won the bigger Republican states (Ohio, Tx, Califonia, NY, NJ, etc.) needed, to upset a national Republican candidate who's platform is most certainly going to include national security, in Republican rival, John McCain.
I mean, it's called politics for a reason, if this shows us all anything... it's that Hillary's extremly TOUGH...AND...WHEN HER BACKS UP AGAINST THE WALL...SHE WILL NOT GIVE UP... OR... FOLD UNDER PRESSURE...two great qualities we...(This...Mr. Obama, is the kind of experience that Mrs. Clinton's talking about...in case you wanted to know) ..the American People need...in a Commander In Chief. All Obama's done since losing these three states is complain, cry, and accuse everyone from Hillary's, "negativity" campaigning (it's called campaigning for a reason, Barack) to The Media (Yes, that does include you too, CNN, your guy Obama...turned on you, too...all while you guys were gwetting ready to coronate Obama as King, President and Imperial Emperor too, I assume) as to WHY he lost and then the minute things didn't go his way...guess what...HE FOLDED. Since then, he's talked about going negative against Hillary (He does know that he's running against a Clinton, right...isn't this all par for the course...I mean, what does he think he's going to dredge up that could embarrass her, now?) and complain and cry and point his finger at everyone...but...HIMSELF...never once showing the kind of respect and humility for an opponent by just shutting up, smiling good naturedly, graciously and start campaigning again and just plain sucking it all up...losses and all...much like Hillary Clinton did while she was losing to him. Never once did you see her complain about anything when she was losing, except when in the most televised debate she was on and only when over 85% of the first questions went at her, (just so that Obama could "parrot" something back on everything that she just said, right after her) and it was increasingly obvious that the debate was made for "Emperor, Obama" to grandstand his Issues and Agenda to the American People. Problem is, Barack Obama had no real issues to talk about during his "Sermons" whoops, I mean, "Speeches"...and he has no "Real Agenda" on how to fix this great nation of ours...the "American People" weren't and "aren't" about to just "buy it" just based on the use of generic everyday words...like, "hope" and "change" any longer. Hillary has continously referenced, "actual programs" (like her "Houses for Hope" program) she's got "ready to go" all during her speeches and during debates, while Obama just sat down there...every time, ready to "parrot" again or just change the topic towards what the other candidates were doing at the time, whenever he's pressed on what his actual "Agenda's" are, so that we...the American People...couldn't actually see that he didn't have any. In closing, Hillary has shown to us...the American People...that she's "Gritty Tough" and gracious when dealing and battling against her most formidable rivals' yet, she also's shown us,that she won't fold under presure or cave in like Obama has, apparently, when the going gets TOUGH...Hillary Clinton, "JUST GET'S TOUGHER". These are qualities that even if you don't like it...you still...have to respect it, when you see it in another person...this' something that other nations and people from across our noble globe would see and also respect. PEOPLE OF MISSISSIPPI AND PENNSYLVANIA...VOTE IN HILLARY CLINTON AS OUR NEXT PRESIDENT. THANK YOU!!

Here are the REAL Facts on Obama and Hillary:

LET'S COMPARE QUALIFICATIONS!

Let's take a closer look at who's really qualified and or who's really working for the good of all of us in the Senate. Obama or Clinton. Records of these two candidates should be scrutinized in order to make an informed decision.

Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term - 6yrs. - and another year campaigning, has managed to author and pass into law - 20 twenty pieces of legislation in her first six years.

These bills can be found on the website of the Library of Congress
www.thomas.loc.gov, but to save you trouble, I'll post them here for you.

> 1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site.
> 2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month.
> 3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
> 4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall.
> 5. Name courthouse after James L. Watson.
> 6. Name post office after Jonn A. O'Shea.
> 7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day.
> 8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition
Day.
> 9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the
bicentennial of his death.
> 10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on
winning the championship.
> 11. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on
winning the championship.
> 12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution
Commemorative Program.
> 13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda.
> 14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express
condolences on her death.
> 15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters
who lost their lives on duty. Only five of Clinton's bills are, more
substantive. 16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of
9/11.
> 17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11 18. Assist landmine
> victims in other countries.
> 19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care.
> 20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as
protected in the wilderness preservation system.

There you have it, the fact's straight from the Senate Record

Now, I would post those of Obama's, but the list is too substantive, so I'll
mainly categorize.

During the first - 8 - eight years of his elected service he sponsored over
820 bills.

He introduced 233 regarding healthcare reform:

> 125 on poverty and public assistance,
> 112 crime fighting bills,
> 97 economic bills,
> 60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills,
> 21 ethics reform bills,
> 15 gun control,
> 6 veterans affairs and many others.

His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored
another 427.

These inculded:

**the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 - became law,

**The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat
Reduction Act, - became law,

**The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate, **The 2007
Government Ethics Bill, - became law,

**The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, In
committee, and many more.

In all, since entering the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096. An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no record according to some who would prefer that this comparison not be made public. Please go online and research these bills for yourselves.

He's not just a talker..........He's a doer.
Pass it on....It's impressive!!!!!
